Not all narrative is equal. I’m brought in to work on projects that demand real understanding – of your subject, your audience and what you want to shift. Whether that’s organisational messaging or a standalone film, report or toolkit, the goal is always the same: to win attention, build trust and shift how people think, feel or behave.
What this often involves:
- Leading projects – managing large communication projects on behalf of organisations, including commissioning designers, camera operators, animators and others, overseeing quality and schedules
- Writing and editing – using storytelling techniques to shape reports, strategies, toolkits, guides, summaries, web content and blogs with compelling narratives: clear, accessible and engaging
- Strategic support – helping develop editorial and production processes and systems for predictable, streamlined projects
- Film – scripting, production and managing film shoots in sensitive contexts such as healthcare environments, incorporating research ethics, participant consent and well-being
- Coproduction – working alongside people with lived experience and others, to develop content through participative processes
- Knowledge translation – turning complex research and policy into accessible, engaging messaging without losing nuance or credibility
- Case studies and profiles – interviewing and shaping powerful stories that demonstrate successes, learning and vision
- Developing impact reports – to communicate value clearly to funders and stakeholders
How I help
Writing and editing for social change is where I first came in on all this, and that craft underpins everything I do.
Whether I’m scripting a film, turning project spreadsheets into an inviting toolkit, or writing a board strategy document, the approach is the same: understand the client and their audience, then shape communication that bridges the gap, to achieve the desired change.
I can start from scratch or work with what you already have – existing evidence, case studies, interviews, data – and shape it into something clear, credible and purposeful. I can lead the whole process or work alongside your team.
Projects range from a single report to a complex, multi-format programme, and from a focused, contained piece of work to longer engagements.
